Martinez, Larrabaster top Apo monthly medal

JORGE Martinez and Mike Larrabaster emerged gross and net champions, respectively, in the Apo Golf and Country Club Monthly Medal tournament played last January 21 and 22 at its scenic course in Bago Gallera.

Martinez had a gross score of 76, while Larrabaster carded a net 68 to rule the Class A division of the two-day event supervised by Apo manager Billy Parilla.

Eddie Cago, Ando Hitoshi, Ferdie Lagahit and Fred Junsay shared the limelight after topping their respective categories.

Cago's 78 was enough to win him the Class B gross title and Hitoshi's 64 earned him the Class B net crown.

Lagahit submitted a 90 to pocket the Class C gross plum, while Junsay had 63 for the Class C net title.

In the seniors division, Ting Castillo fired 77 to win the gross crown while Fred Abundo carded 65 to capture the net title.

Parilla said a total of 190 golfers competed in the monthly tournament for January and he wants to apologize to the players for the traffic that was caused by the huge number of participants.

"The Apo monthly tournament is getting bigger and bigger each year and I want to thank the players for taking part in the event," Parilla said.

"The golfers themselves are making this monthly tournament special, because of their cooperation we are making a headway in as far as the monthly medal tournament is concerned," he added.
