UIC, LIC capture UBL 2012 crowns

THE University of the Immaculate Concepcion (UIC) and Lifestream International College (LIC) crowned themselves champions of the United Basketball League (UBL) 2012 held at the Almendras Gym recently.
UIC topped the cadet division at the expense of St. Peter College of Toril (SPCT), Holy Cross College of Sasa (HCCS) and Thompson Christian High School (TCHS) that placed second, third and fourth, respectively.

LIC, for its part, ruled the juniors division while Davao Jones Academy (DJA) settled for the runner-up honors. SPCT and Brokenshire Science High School (BSHS) grabbed the next two spots.
UIC small forward Jolan Pelegrino was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP). He also formed part of the cadet mythical five selection along with SPCT point guard Charles Saludes, UIC shooting guard Henry Watanabe, UIC power forward Vencer Literatus, and SPCT center France Rosal.
LIC's small forward Edwin Noya was hailed as junior MVP and a member of the mythical five alongside LIC point guard Edmund Anieve, SPCT shooting guard Ramon Medina, DJA power forward Cherwen San Jose, and DJA center Kim Pagaran.
The tournament was organized by the UBL Coaches Group headed by DJA's Rael Diaz and sanctioned by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Mindanao Area B under regional director Regino "Boy" Cua. (RPSA)
