"We expect stiffer competition this year with four new teams entered in the tournament compared to last year's turnout of 28 teams," he said.
The league, which serves as a venue for Ateneans who never made it to the varsity team, features men's 36-above, 35-under and open categories.
Teams will play the single round-robin format to determine the top four teams that will clash in the semi-finals where the first and fourth teams will play against each other while the second and third squads will also face off for finals berths.
Statistics of players will be given focus in the tournament since individual awards will be given away after the finals match.
Games will be played on weekends.
SBP Mindanao Region B director Regino "Boy" Cua will lead the ceremonial toss while city commissioner lawyer Marvin "Oying" Melodias will give the keynote speech during the brief opening rites.
