Golf Updates for the week

A MARRIED couple drove to Mati, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and it was about each other’s close relatives.

As they passed a farm of carabaos, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours? Hahaha!" "Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws."

PGA Tour News: The Farmers Insurance Open held at Torrey Pines, La Jolla, California, concluded last January 29, 2012. The Champion of the tournament was Brandt Snedeker. He and Kyle Stanley were tied for first place and Snedeker won by playoff. And so, in second place was Kyle Stanley. In third place was John Rollins. Tied for fourth place were Bill Haas and Cameron Tringale.

How come the popular names in golf are still not on the top of the leaderboard? Maybe their tummies are still big after the holidays and they cannot turn very well.

The next PGA tour event is the Waste Management Phoenix Open. This is from February 2-5, 2012. The tournament will be at TPC in Scottsdale. Pause.

Point of view of a non-golfer reading this. Too much golf info na ba? Boring? Some of you golfers out there are familiar with the golf courses that I mention. But I am sure that most of you, non-golfers especially, cannot relate when I mention these names and places.

If you are interested and would like to know more about golf and the golf courses of the PGA tour, and you do not have the budget to start playing golf, I have a suggestion. Buy a golf video game. I can recommend the Tiger Woods PGA Tour video game. With this, you can play as Tiger and you can try the golf courses that they use in the PGA Tour.

When you do this, the next time I mention a golf course, then you will say, ‘Ah, I know this course. I have played it already.’ Naks…sosyal!

Speaking of video games. Last Wednesday, 20-year old Chihiro Ikeda and I spent time at Gaisano Mall. Aside from having lunch at Wings and Dips, we spent time playing video games on the top floor. Well, she did. I just watched. After that, we ate ice cream sundae at McDonalds. It is amusing to think that an Asian Ladies Golf Tour professional and a Japan Ladies Tour competitor who may someday win hundreds of thousands of pesos or even millions, still play video games as a hobby.

She is leaving in a couple of days to prepare for her debut tournament as a professional. It will be this month in Thailand. I will miss this kiddo. I wish her the best!

Health: I told myself last year that at the start of 2012, I will give priority to my health which means—diet and exercise. It is February, and what I have been doing is still the opposite. And so, when Chichang and I were at Gaisano Mall, we took the stairs. After climbing two flights of stairs, I was already gasping for air. What does this mean? It means — that I should use the escalator next time. Hehe.

No, seriously, it means that I should really start doing some exercise and start eating less. The Lotus Court at Marco Polo offers a Chinese buffet every payday. I had dinner there last Tuesday. Yummy, as always. I ate one less buchi, one less crab, one less bowl of fried rice, one less fruit tart, one less of everything else. See, I eat less now. That is a good start.
