Black Knights, Crocs A shine in Sakya Fil-Chi football

THE Black Knights and Crocs “A” FC reaped top honors at the close of the 3rd Sakya Fil-Chi Football Cup 2012 at the Tionko field over the weekend.
The Black Knights captured the under-11 title over Malita, Philippine Women's College (PWC) and Abba's Orchard that occupied the next three spots.

Crocs A, meanwhile, seized the under-seven crown at the expense of Malita that placed second, Ateneo de Davao University third, and Sakya Dragonites fourth.
Ateneo also ruled the under-15 event over SOS Children’s Village, Black Knights and Malita.
The girls under-13 title went to Ateneo while the Sakya Dragonites finished second, Ateneo White came third and SOS Children's Village was fourth.
Ateneo's under-nine squad also emerged champion over Malita, PWC and Sakya Dragonites while DFA Blue toppled rivals DFA White, Sakya Dragonites and Mintal United for the under-13 crown.
Alex Verkleij of the Black Knights was named under-11 most valuable player (MVP), while Christian Osog of Crocs A was hailed under-seven MVP.
The other MVPs Jed Diamante of Ateneo (under-15), Joanna Adao of Ateneo Blue (girls under-13), Jasper Lim of Ateneo (under-nine) and John Rey Lagura of DFA Blue (under-13).
A total of 62 teams joined the 7-A-Side tournament held with assistance from University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao students.
