Kiptanui, Jaro bag 17K titles

KENYAN Joshpat Kiptanui and Brokenshire College (BC) standout Cynthia Jaro bagged the 17K titles of the Philhealth Run Davao Leg held at SM City Davao car park Sunday morning.
Kiptanui clocked a total of 58 minutes and 55 seconds, beating BC bet Anthony Nerza and Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC)/Calinan's Elmer Bartolo who finished second and third, respectively, in men's 17K event.

Nerza timed one hours, two minutes and four seconds while Bartolo finished in 1:05:09.
Jaro, a runner-up in the Cebu City Marathon last month, checked in at 1:20:48 to race past rivals Judelyn Miranda of Tagum City (1:20:50) and BC's Emily Avergonzado (1:23:09) who wounded up in the next two spots.
HCDC's Brian Lupio and BC's Criselyn Jaro shared top honors in 10K.
Lupio (35:03) bested UM's Sonny Wagdos (35:16), BC's Arnie Macaneras (35:56) for the men's title while Jaro prevailed over UM's Vivian Avergonzado (47:18) who placed second and sister Cellie Rose Jaro (49:42) who came third in the distaff side.
In 5K, BC entry Michael Constantino lived up to his billing by capturing the men's crown. He registered 15:45 while runner-up Philip Ocon of HCDC recorded 15:47.
The women's 5K title went to Baguio City's Flordeliza Dono (17:35) who outran Emar's Bethloise Moralde (18:24) and University of Mindanao's Christy Capanarihan (19:15).
Michael Barrosa and Meezel Cabreros, meanwhile, rule the 3K events.
Barrosa (10:11) lorded over Jerald Lamatan (10:43) and John Vincent Moralde (11:09) in the men's side. Cabreros, for her part, prevailed over Maricris Caintic (13:31) and Ma. Lota Amistad (16:55) for the girls crown.
Cash prizes, medals, gift packs and finisher's certificates were awarded to the winners of the event managed by Vantage Sports Promotions. It was held for the benefit of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) Children's Cancer Center and Blood Diseases Unit.
