DCWD, UM batters govern Pahalipay

THE Davao City Water District (DCWD) and University of Mindanao (UM) Davao emerged champions in the just-concluded Mayor Inday Sara and Vice Mayor Rody Duterte Pahalipay Softball Tournament at the UM Matina grounds.
DCWD overcame Tadeco, 7-5, to capture the men's crown. The latter settled for the runner-up honors instead in the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asaphil)-sanctioned event.

In the semi-finals, Tadeco hacked out a rousing 9-2 win over UM Davao to arrange a titular showdown with DCWD, a 5-2 victor over Tagum.
UM Davao edged Tagum, 4-3, in their battle for third.
Former RP team player Arnold Sarabia led DCWD that was also composed of Junie Sintos, Diosdado Adan, Allan Ambulo, Senado Ondangan, Jake Barrosa, Judel Omallao, Apolonio Alga, Enrique Montejo, Felix Serentas and Paul Juson.
The UM Main lady batters, meanwhile, bested UM Tagum for the women's title. The Kardams Toril placed third while Indangan National High School came fourth.
UM Davao women's team was bannered by Mirasol Molde, Michelle Sabud, Jonalyn Cabije, Analou Vanzuela, Gill Meris, Carla Vince Busalla, Lorelyn Polistico, Flora May Castro, Guada Lourdes Rojas and Mercedita Tampos.
Cash prizes were awarded to the winners of the league sponsored by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO).
