CMU wins UP Min women’s footfest

THE Central Mindanao University (CMU) of Musuan, Bukidnon emerged champion at the close of the 15-Up University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao Women's Footfest in Mintal over the weekend.

CMU garnered a total of nine points with a clean 3-0-0 win-draw-loss slate in the single round-robin format tournament.

UP Mindanao A grabbed the runner-up honors by edging fellow four-pointer Faith Academy via higher goal difference. Both teams held identical 1-1-1 card.

Faith Academy placed third instead while 0-0-3 UP Mindanao B finished fourth.

Charlene Jhane Cabigon, Floraliza Collantes, Lovelyn Correa, Vanillie Mata, Irene Tabaranza, Princess Erika Valiente, Jennifer Platino, Sherlyn Marie Abanilla, Jo Angelica Francia and Mery Rose Candelaria powered the Ma. Joverly Molde-coached CMU.

UP Mindanao A, meanwhile, leaned on the services of Alex Cortez, Princess Cuabo, Maureen Joyce Homez, Kimberly dawn Bontanon, Jenny Lipa, Crishyl Ann Bilbao, Alma Kharisse Cubelo, Carmi So and Alleyne Erika Santos with Krishna Balaga–Hernandez as coach.

The one-day competition was organized Siki ni Oble and the Department of Human Kinetics to celebrate UP Mindanao's foundation anniversary. (MLSA)
