Ateneo booters stamp class in Cherifer 7 A-side event

THE Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) captured four titles in the recent Cherifer 7 A-side Football Tournament at the Tionko Football Grounds Saturday.

The Ateneo high school girl booters captured the U14 title at the expense of Sakya FC and D'Davao Survivors FC, which ended up with the runner-up honors.

Johanna Marie Adao of AdDU was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) after showing consistency in all of their matches.

The boy booters of AdDU also clinched the U14 crown after defeating Catalunan Grande, which placed second. Mintal United emerged third place.

Venz Abella of AdDU was hailed MVP after leading the team to the title. The mixed U12 gold also went to AdDU ehind Kahlil Jikiri, who went home with the MVP honors. Ateneo bested Mintal United and the Black Knights, which settled with the second and third slots, respectively.

AdDU also copped the mixed U10 title after defeating the Black Knights and the booters of Malita, who landed on second and third, respectively. Jasper Lim of AddDU took home the MVP award.

Crocs FC, for its part, emerged champion in the mixed U8 category at the expense of Ateneo and Mintal United.

The MVP plum went to Crocs FC's Christian Osog.

Davao Football Association (Davao FA) general secretary Erwin Protacio along with Davao FA board members Dapoy Diamante, Rachelle delos Reyes and Stephanie Perez awarded the medals and trophies to the winners.

The one-day bootfest was organized by the Davao FA in cooperation with the Civic Welfare and Training Services (CWTS) students of the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao.

It was backed by the Cherifer Vitamins, Intermed Marketing Philippines. (RPSA)
