SOME 1,500 runners are expected when the first-ever Delo Kadayawan Half Marathon will get underway on August 19 at Ecowest Drive in Quimpo Boulevard, Matina.
Race director Kenneth Sai of Vantage Sports Promotions, a guest along with Delo finished lubricant sales manager Aldrin Laruscain, business consultant Ezer Marin and co-organizer Pilsen Suzara in Tuesday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn, said the event will have the male and female three-kilometer (3K), 5K, 10K and 21K categories.
"We have a new venue because Roxas Avenue will be very busy with Kadayawan events. A total cash prize of P80,000 is at stake in the race," Sai said.
Laruscain assured that their run will be fun and exciting since participants will avail of fuel and lubricant discount cards upon registration. Discounts may be availed until September 30.
Laruscain said, "Runners will get something out of their registration fees. They will get discount cards allowing them of a P1 discount per liter up to 30 liters per transaction and automatic discount of 10 percent for lubricants. The discount cards are transferrable so runners without vehicles may give them to their friends instead."
Marin, for his part, said they aim to build the Caltex and Delo brands with the race that still has an undetermined beneficiary as of presstime.
"This is our first run and we hope to make this a regular event," Marin added.
Registration is going on at Adidas Shop, second floor, Gaisano Mall. Fees are P250 (3K), P300 (5K, 10K) and P350 (21K).
