JVR chess team championships open today

THE 3rd Jesus V. del Rosario (JVR) Inter-School Invitational Chess Team Championship gets underway today at the JVR Training Center along J.P. Laurel Avenue.
National master Prospero "Bebot" Cruz, who is tournament director of the Swiss System format event sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) , said a total of 13 teams are seeing action in the boys and girls under-12 division while 18 teams are vying for the U16 title.
Ateneo de Davao University, Dona Pilar Learning Center, Davao Wisdom Academy, Stella Maris Academy of Davao, Davao Central College of Toril, Davao Sped, San Isidro Central Elementary School, Sta. Ana Central Elementary School, Christian College of Southeast Asia, New Ilang Achiever Academy, Magallanes Elementary School, Montserrat Camp School of Davao and Imelda Elementary School are the ones entered in U12.
In boys and girls U16, competing are Precious International School of Davao, Holy Cross College of Sasa, F. Bangoy National High School, Our Lady of Fatima Academy, DWA, Smad, Sped Davao, Dona Carmen Denia National High School, Holy Cross of Davao College, MCSD, San Lorenzo Ruiz Academy of Polomolok, DCCT, University of the Immaculate Conception, Addu, Sta. Ana National High School and Davao Christian High School.
The annual tournament, which is organized as part of Emcor's anniversary celebration, aims to provide elementary and High School students a venue to compete in preparation for the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet, a qualifying for the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet en-route to the Palarong Pambansa.
Individual board winners will receive medals while teams will claim trophies and merchandise from organizers. MLSA
