THE Davao City National High School (DCNHS) and Talomo National High School (TNHS) won their games anew in the Mayor Inday Sara and Vice Mayor Rody Duterte 2nd Liga Dabaw Inter-Public High School Basketball Tournament 2012 at the Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS) covered court on Sunday.
DCNHS crushed Crossing Bayabas National High School (CBNHS), 68-50, to improve to a 3-1, win-loss record. Jaime Millapes, Jr. and John Mar Comendador drilled 16 and 14 points, respectively. CBNHS's Kent Sabordo made 18 points.
DCNHS head coach Danilo Dumagan, in an interview, said in the vernacular: "Kabalo mi nga kaya namo pildihon ang CBNHS pero wala gyud mi nagkumpyansa. Ang among gibuhat ra kay gipressure namo ilang mga dribbler aron maglisod sila ug set sa ilang opensa (We know we can beat them but we were not complacent. We put pressure on their dribllers so they could not set up their offense)."
Dumagan also said CBNHS committed many turnovers that led to easy fast break points for his team. He added they will stay focus and treat each match like a championship game.
TNHS, meanwhile, dismantled Erico T. Nograles National High School (ENNHS), 64-40, to post their third victory in Bracket B.
The hoopfest organized by Liga Dabaw under tournament director Oscar Salvador will resume next weekend.
It is sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) under Mindanao Region B director Regino "Boy" Cua.
