THE Solido Fil-Chi United and Davao Crocodile FC thrashed their respective opponents in the resumption of the Davao Football Association (DFA) Men's 2nd Division Football Cup Sunday at the Tionko football field.
Solido crushed Ateneo de Davao University (Addu)-Matina, 9-1, behind the hat trick of Paul Garcia (13th, 53rd, 74th). Wanrop Boothod added two goals, while teammates Cocoy Arrieta, Gary Ocampo, Jep Agustin and Thomas Deeg added one goal each.
Jed Diamante scored the only goal for Addu-Matina in the 38th via penalty kick.
Solido team captain Buboy Arrieta, in an interview, said: "We came in strong in this game since we know that every game is very important for us to make it to the quarterfinals."
Addu-Matina head coach Albert Ryan Lim, on the other hand, said their goal was not really to win but gain more experience considering that they were up against senior players.
Davao Crocodile FC, meanwhile, routed the Intangibles FC, 7-1, as Angelo Roncal, Roberto Prog, Wilfredo Mapula, Christian Ea, Kim Panaguiton and Jerome Junsay netted one goal each.
Team captain Ea, in an interview, said: "We focused on our defense so that we could attack more effectively. We also had good teamwork, communication, and focus on the field that was why we won."
In other games, M7 United shutout the Belisario FC, 4-0, with Peter Pardo leading the scoring with a hat trick while PTA Boys blanked the Solido Juniors, 6-0. Jorge Valenzona lifted PTA boys with five goals.
