Ateneo bags Mandaya Cup mini title

THE Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) defeated Assumption College of Davao ACD), 82-71, to capture its third straight Royal Mandaya Hotel Cup basketball tournament mini division title at the Genesis Gym in Ecoland on Sunday.
Holy Child School of Davao (HCSD) came out firing from all cylinders to beat Precious International School of Davao (PISC), 99-61, and clinch third place.
Meanwhile, HCSD and Ford Academy shoot for a final berth in the cadet category when they play separate opponents in Game 2 of the best-of-three semifinals this Saturday.
Holy Child takes on Ateneo de Davao, which they crushed in the first game, 77-57, behind Vincent Fernandez, while Ford faces Assumption College of Davao. Ford also won the series opener, 77-56.
A victory by both Holy Child and Ford will earn them a finals seat.
Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top finishers at the end of the tournament. (CRAM)
