TWO cycling tournaments will hit the road on August 18 and 19 in celebration of the 27th Kadayawan Festival in Davao City.
Newly-elected Philcycling deputy secretary general, Salvador "Jun" Paholio, bared this in an e-mailed statement to Sun.Star Davao.
Paholio said the first of the two bikefests will be the Kadayaw-Juan Davao Road Bike Challenge that will fire off on August 18 at the SM City Davao.
The bike race co-presented by Juan Trading Corporation will feature the 140-kilometer course that is open to the open elite team and the open elite, executive and midget individual categories.
Cash prizes, trophies, and medals await the winners in each category.
"This is a developmental event initiated by Philcycling to discover potential cyclists that will represent Davao City in national and international competitions," Paholio said.
Registration is pegged at P350 inclusive of jersey, packed lunch and bottled water. For registration contact Paholio at (0999)368-5005.
The Mayor Inday Sara and Vice Mayor Rody Duterte Lumba Bisiklita sa Kadayawan, on the other hand, is set to kick off on August 19 at the Barangay Langub in Maa.
It will feature the open elite, U20 junior and the U18 midget individual categories plus the executive team competition.
Cash prizes, trophies, and medals will also be at stake for the winners in each category.
The free-registration cycling race is backed by the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office. (RPSA)
