THE women's and men's team of the Tchoukball Association of Davao (Tad) placed second and third, respectively, in the recent 5th Asia Pacific Tchoukball Championships (APTC) in Bacolod City.
The women's team posted a win-loss record of 2-1 to salvage the silver medal behind world number one Chinese-Taipei, which captured the gold with an unbeaten record.
The Jun Mendiola-mentored women's team edged Singapore, 35-34, and followed it up with a 40-20 over host team Bacolod. The women's team, however, bowed to Chinese-Taipei, 30-32.
Cindy Matabalan of Tad women's team, in a phone conversation with Sun.Star Davao, said they were happy with their finish since they were not expecting to beat Singapore, the world's second best team man.
Matabalan added they were also satisfied with their game against Chinese-Taipei since they put up a good fight.
The men's team, meanwhile, salvaged the bronze medal after edging Malaysia, 55-54, in their battle for third. Chinese-Taipei clinched another gold in the men's division while Singapore settled for silver.
Matabalan said the men's team seemed to be offline with their shot selections. She, however, said it is still a good thing that the men's team still placed third despite the lackluster performance.
The women's team is composed of team captain Clarissa May Segurra, Merlo Albano, Len-Len Dael, Ems Engriquez, Meittos Gonzales, Jen Jurado, Joahnna Languban, Cybil Mendiola, Bea Reyes, Sheena Senarillos, and Merzel Zafra.
Bannering the men's team are team captain James Mendiola, Louie Arsenal, Brent Arsenal, Ben Arsenal, Dante Dante, Genesis Gonzales, Led Gonzales, Rap-Rap Hernando Lai Jabol, Mikey Tutor and Justin Wee Eng.
