THE Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) and the John Paul II College of Davao (JPIICD) turned back their respective rivals in the 27th Kadayawan sa Dabaw Mayor Inday Sara and Vice Mayor Rody Duterte Inter-Collegiate Men's Basketball Tournament held at the Ladislawa Clubhouse Gym Friday.
HCDC needed an extra period to put away the Agro-Industrial Foundation College of the Philippines (AIFCP) Sailors, 97-87, for their second straight victory following their 81-74 victory over the University of Mindanao (UM) in last Tuesday's games.
JPIICD, meanwhile, routed the Mats College of Technology, 82-61, to improve their win-loss record to 2-0. JPIICD earlier edged the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), 86-82, in their Tuesday game at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.
Ama Computer College (AMACC), meanwhile, entered the winning column by defeating Emar Learning Center, 76-60.
The champion of the cagefest will take home a cash prize of P10,000 and the right to represent the city in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League Mindanao Finals slated in October in Iligan City.
The cagefest is sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and backed by the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) under officer-in-charge Pocholo M. Elegino. (RPSA)
