THE Philippine Women's College (PWC) registered two wins to clinch a finals berth in the Davao Football Association (DFA) Women's Football League held at the Tionko Football Field over the weekend.
PWC blanked the University of the Philippines-Mindanao (UP-Min), 9-0, in their Saturday match and followed it up with a rousing 11-1 victory over the Ateneo de Davao University College (Addu-College) Sunday.
With back-to-back wins, PWC topped the elimination round with a win-draw-loss card of 5-0-1 and a total of 15 points.
Before its loss to PWC, AdDU-College defeated Medvil FC, 5-1, in their Saturday game to finish the elimination round with a 2-0-3 slate.
SOS Foundation, meanwhile, turned back Ateneo de Davao University High School (AdDU-HS), 4-1, in their Saturday meeting.
SOS Foundation now holds a 3-0-2 record coming in its final elimination game against Medvil FC slated on September 8.
AdDU-HS, on the other hand, recovered from an earlier loss by pulling off a decisive win over UP-Min, 10-2, in its Sunday outing to end its elimination round with a 4-0-2 record.
D' Davao Survivors (DDS), for its part, capped off its elimination round with a record of 4-0-2 following a 17-1 thrashing over the Medvil FC.
Tournament director Rachelle "Ching" delos Reyes, in an interview, said the team that will meet PWC in the finals is yet to be decided as SOS Foundation will have to win against Medvil FC by at least eight points to earn a goal differential of 25 points.
"DDS has a goal differential of 24 points so SOS will have to work hard to beat their opponent by 8 points because if not, DDS will advance," she said.
The finals and the battle for third are set on September 9 at the same venue.
The tournament is sanctioned by DFA under its president Edward Lam.
