JOKE Time: "Doctor, we've got an emergency! My baby just swallowed my golf tees." Doctor: "Okay, I'll be there at once." Man: "But tell me what to do till you get here, doc?" Doctor: "Practice your putting."
Before anything else, congratulations to the winners of the Davao Pro-Am Golf Tournament held at Apo Golf & Country Club last August 28-30, 2012. This tournament was sponsored by Samsung, in partnership with Emcor.
In first place is the team of Ramil Bisera and Micah Shin. Bisera won 172,000 pesos. In second place is the team of Ferdie Aunzo and Monchit Mackay. Aunzo won 116,000 pesos. In third place is the team of Paul Minoza and Francis Morilla. Minoza won 68,000. The rest of the winners, I will mention later.
Joke time: A female golfer suffers a terrible bee sting. Luckily, she sees her doctor friend at the clubhouse and asks for advice. “Doc!” she said. "What happened?" asked the doctor. "I got stung by a bee between the first and second holes," replied the lady golfer. The doctor replied, "I think your stance was too wide."
What’s new in the local golf scene? The Davao ladies are preparing for the PAL Ladies Interclub Golf Tournament which is scheduled on September 18-21, 2012. Philippine Airlines is expecting 29 teams to participate—24 local teams and 5 foreign teams. About the foreign teams, two will be coming from Australia, two will be coming from the US, and one team will be coming from Singapore.
If you remember, last year, the PAL Ladies Interclub was revived and the venue was here in Davao at Rancho Palos Verdes Golf Club. 22 teams participated. This year, the venue is at Sta. Barbara Golf Club in Iloilo City.
What else can I say? Well, everyone, meaning all the participating lady golfers in Davao, is practicing for this tournament because the competition is less than two weeks away. Not only are we preparing our golf shots, but also our golf attire. Yes. The golf outfits matter. Duh, we’re women! Btw, thank you Dondon Uy of Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. You are so kind.
In last year’s PAL Ladies Interclub, I was supposed to be the team captain of Rancho Palos Verdes. But when PAL decided to move the tournament to a later date because of the strike, I could not participate anymore since I was scheduled to leave for the US. But I am glad that my team still won, and by a big margin!
This year, I am playing for Apo Golf & Country Club. We recently won in the WGAP Luzvimin Golf Tournament in Cagayan de Oro. I hope that we will also do well in the PAL Ladies Interclub Golf Tournament.
Good Luck to my team mates and to the rest of the lady golfers of Davao who are participating in this exciting event.
