AAK Davao to compete in Super karate kids-A A +A

THE eight-member Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) Davao is all set to see action in the SM Supermalls Super Karate Kids Age-Group Championships on Sunday at SM Bacoor.
AAK Davao chief Rommel Tan, in an e-mailed statement to Sun.Star Davao Thursday, bared reigning So Kim Cheng outstanding karatekas Arthur Lao III of the Ateneo de Davao University and Carmela Marie Estarija of the Stella Maris Academy of Davao (Smad) will lead the cast.
Joining them are University of the Immaculate Conception's Pavel Jervis Bacayo, Vivian Cortes, Czarina Morales, Danya Paquil, Mary Ann Pilarte and Angelica Noro with Jeofrey Albarico as coach.
Tan said the one-day competition will serve as tune-up game for the 2nd VietNhat Karatedo Open Championships in Hanoi, Vietnam slated Oct. 20 and 21.
The team is bankrolled by AAK Davao parents, Charlie and Gloria Estarija, Mimi Lao, Xian Calamba, LCI Inc., Engr. Celso C. Manaois, Benjade Construction, Engr. Michael and Esther Te and Jimmy and Vicky Javier of Beefit Gym.
AAK Davao, meanwhile, will host the 2012 Inter-School Karatedo Age-Group and Seniors Championships at The Annex of SM City Davao on Oct. 13. Winners of the said tournament will compete in the National Inter-School Championship set at La Salle Greenhills next year. (MLSA)
