Caragao, Gantuangco rule tablenet

MULTI-TITLED Jacqueline Caragao and fellow San Pedro College (SPC) player Andre Gantuangco emerged champions in their respective divisions in the Davao Association of College and Schools (Dacs) Collegiate Sportsfest 2012 table tennis individual event held recently at SPC Ulas campus.
Caragao outclassed Hannah Roselle Cave of Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC), 3-1, to clinch the women's single A crown. Karylle Dionglay of Ateneo de Davao University settled for third while Maybelle Marzado of Holy Cross College of Calinan (HCCC) and Phoebe Reganon of St. Peter College of Toril (SPCT) placed fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
Gantuangco, meanwhile, edged Barry Abrahan of HCDC, 3-2, to capture the men's single A title. Ateneo's Kim Kyeonggyu, HCCC's Gilber Sibucao and SPCT's grabbed the next three spots.
SPC's Angelie Mae Verano pocketed the women's single B title at the expense of Jessele Mae Coquilla of HCDC, Joan Lozano of HCCC Marianne Cosare of SPCT and Anna Karla Munoza of Ateneo.
The men's singles B title went to Cypol Jay Inocente of HCDC while Ateneo's Jerard Mearns was runner-up, SPCT's Kristopher Grande third, HCCC's Marhll Felicidad fourth and SPC's Ben Sablada fifth.
HCDC's Rachel Ocau and Lovely Rose Ortiza copped the women's doubles title over SPC's Joana Gantuangco and Mia Marie Malcampo while HCDC's Joverlou Dones and Jarin Decasa, for their part, pocketed the men's doubles crown over Ateneans Michael Pedros and Hansel Encabo.
HCDC dominated the men's and women's team events.
Over at Wheels N' More Badminton Center, Ateneo defeated University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC). Ateneo was bannered by Kristoffer Hernaez, Earl Guiang, Kayo Diel, Niccolo Bangayan and Billy Dayon.
UIC women shuttlers Janelee Tabunan, Trisha Floresca, Alyana Orquiza, Khaye Gutierrez and Arlene Jaug combined forces to win the women's team title over Ateneo.
In chess team, HCDC garnered a total of 15.5 points after five rounds to win the men's title while ACD (9.5) place second and SPCT (5.5) third. HCDC also took home the women's title over SPC and Ateneo.
The champions in each event will represent the city in the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines Regional Meet slated in November. (RPSA)
