THE Emar Human and Environmental College and Thompson Christian School routed their rivals as the 9th Gaisano South (GS) Cup resumed Friday evening at the GS SkyGym.
Emar clobbered Jose Maria College (JMC), 68-65, in junior division 1 behind Geevy Guianan and Mark Manguilimotan who drilled in 18 and 16 points, respectively.
Emar erased a 14-point first period deficit, rallying to cut JMC's lead by one, 45-46, at the end of the third.
A tight battle then ensued but Manguilimotan buried back-to-back treys to snatch a 68-61 advantage for Emar barely a minute left in the game.
JMC's Harry Dumagan, however, countered with four quick points to close the gap, 65-68, 35 seconds remaining.
JMC then fouled Emar's Miguel Buco who missed both his free throws allowing the Buhangin-based dribblers to send the match into overtime but Harry Dumagan failed in his three-point attempt.
Thompson, meanwhile, demolished St. Augustine International School, 66-42, in their junior division division 2-B clash as Jude Samson canned 16 markers.
