Saturday, October 13, 2012
COMING off from a 93-86 victory over the Alaska Aces on Wednesday, the Meralco Bolts is going all out to secure another win opposite heavy favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Gin Kings in their PBA Phoenix On Tour 2013 PBA Philippine Cup at 6:15 p.m. today at the Davao del Sur Sports and Business Complex in Digos City.
Former De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archer Mark Cardona, who joined teammates Jay-R Reyes and Solomon Mercado in a Bayad Center-backed Meet and Greet at Centerpoint Plaza in Matina yesterday, said the team's morale is high following their recent triumph.
"We are confident going into that game against Ginebra tomorrow. It's a good thing that we won our last game. Our morale is up and we are going for the win," Cordona said in an interview on the sideline of the Meet and Greet activity.
He, however, said they are not complacent and that there is no room to relax having posted a 1-1, win-loss card so far in the ongoing conference.
He assured that the Bolts is on the right track since the first game loss to Talk N' Text Tropang Texters was a tight one. The latter prevailed, 112-110.
Cardona added, "We were down by 24 in our first game but we were able to send it into overtime. We expect another tough battle against Ginebra."
Cardona is playing his third time in Digos but it is the first for the Meralco Bolts squad of coach Paul Ryan Gregorio.
The team is also composed of Clifford Hodge, Chriss Ross, Jaypee Belencion, Ronjay Buenafe, Yousif Aljamal, Paul Artadi, Chris Timberlake, Gilbert Bulawan, Mark Borboran, Reynel Hugnatan, Kelly Nabong, Ram Carlo Sharma and former Davao City standout Sunday Salvacion.
Cardona, Reyes and Mercado signed Bayad Center shirts that were given away to fans.
Bayad Center is a subsidiary of Meralco.
