Ford tops Ateneo 5

FORD Academy of the Arts (FAA) and the Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS) cruised past their rivals in in the 9th Gaisano South (GS) Cup Saturday at the Gaisano Grand Citimall SkyGym.
FAA routed Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), 69-54, in the cadet-A division. Louie Jay Batoon scored a game-high 31 points to lead FAA to victory while Jessie Requillo and Gian Yaco added 11 and 10, respectively.
Both teams were tied at 34-all coming into halftime. FAA, however, pulled away in the second half as they outscored Addu, 13-7 in the third and closed out the latter in the fourth, 24-15.
DRANHS, meanwhile, crushed the Davao Wisdom Academy (DWA), 117-53, for its second win in junior division 2-A.
Kirby Turingan and Aaron Suson led DRANHS with 17 points apiece.
DRANHS struggled in the first quarter as it only scored 10 points against DWA's 19. But DRANHS came alive in the third and took a commanding 71-51 lead going into the fourth.
Saint Peter College of Toril (SPCT) won via forfeiture over Davao Central College (DCC), to earn their first victory in junior division 2-B.
The tournament is presented by Gaisano Grand Citimall Ilustre Ad and Promo Management and sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) under Mindanao Region B director Regino "Boy" Cua. (Ruji Peter S. Abat)
