Units 1, 4 pace DCAA trackfest-A A +A

THE Units 1 and 4 paced their respective categories in the ongoing Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet the athletics competition at the Davao City National High School as of Wednesday presstime.
Jess Lloyd Amoy and Annie Mae Labuan swept the elementary boys and girls long jump golds, respectively, while Unit 4 clinched boys shot put gold courtesy of Francis Lasaca who heaved the iron ball at a distance of 6.26 meters. The latter bested Jason Bulao of Unit 3 (7.09m) who took the silver and Brian Diez of Unit 1 (6.98m) who finished with a bronze.
Unit 2's Loraine Dianne Encarnacion, who registered 6.26m, copped the girls shot put gold at the expense of Unit 4 mainstays Jessa Mae Ypil (5.77m) and Debbie Joy Biaca (5.34m).
Unit 4's Melvin Herana ruled the secondary boys shot put event with a record of 9.04m while his teammate Aljhon Omosura (8.18m) placed second and Unit 3's Reymar Diamale (8.12m) came third.
Sharmain Carreon also gave Unit 4 the secondary girls shot put gold having made a 7.27m mark. Her teammate Jolina Sensil (7.06m) got the silver while Krizelle Abajon of Unit 2 (6.70m) salvaged the bronze.
In secondary long jump, Anilf Villanueva of Unit 3 and Shymae Radores of Unit 2 shared top honors. Villanueva (5.54m) prevailed over Reuben Flores of Unit 1 (5.53) and Marchian Batuhan of Unit 2 (5.36m) in the boys' event while Radores (4.43m) stamped her rivals Niña Tatoy (4.17m) of Unit 5 and Gemarie Lopez (4.01m) of Unit 2 in the distaff side.
Unit 4 spanked Unit 8, 25-15, 25-8, while Unit 6 whipped Unit 3, 25-9, 25-17, and Unit 1 subdued Unit 5, 25-3, 25-11, in elementary boys division. In the girls' event, Unit 6 elementary spikers drew first blood by thrashing
Unit 8, 25-6, 25-11, as Unit 4 crushed Unit 7, 25-9, 25-13, and Unit 2 turned back Unit 3, 25-19, 25-12.
In elementary boys sipa, Unit 3 scored back-to-back wins over Unit 2, 2-0, and Unit 1, 2-0. Unit 2, however, bounced back with a 2-0 win over Unit 5. Unit 4 also won on the same note, 2-0, against Unit 5.
