Golf: RPVCC Tournament of Champions

IT IS Halloween week! And so I will say a Halloween joke. Kwento ito ng isang golfer sa akin. He said—During Halloween night, I shouted up the stairs to the wife. "Honey there's a witch at the door. What should I do?" She replied, "Just give her some sweets and tell her to get lost." My mother-in-law hasn't spoken to me eversince.

The Tournament of Champions of Rancho Palos Verdes has concluded. Before I congratulate the champions, I would like to mention who the contenders were.

In regular men’s category, the contenders were Kuresh Samanodi, Jun Serado, Vincent Gumapac, Oscar Rebosura, Jung In Kyu, Kim Min Suk, Monchit Mackay, Leo Yap, Bobby Wee, King Rivas, Ronald Galicia, Vic Gonzales, Nelson Villano, Lee Byeong Choul, Marc Lopez and Louie Rabat. And the Club Champion of Rancho Palos Verdes for 2012 is—Marc Lopez.

In division category, the contenders were Eugene Chiong, Don Don Crisologo, Lee Cheul Ju, Edwin Leuterio, Kim Joong Kook, Bong Guerzon, PJ San Pedro, Alex Rivera, Lito Bario, Shin Bokawachi, Lee Su Byung, Ha Dong Woo, Andy Ugdoracion, Ronald Lu, Louie Jacinto and Ha Dong Wan. And the division champion of Rancho Palos Verdes for 2012 is – PJ San Pedro.

In the ladies’ category, the contenders were Beth Crisologo, Sally Seguenza, Gemma Bokawachi, Chon Young Roung, Sheryl Kim, Kim Kyung Hee, Park Ok Hee and Kim Sun Ae. Yep. I am not on the list. That is because I was not able to join a single monthly tournament due to my elbow injury, and I got busy with other activities also. I was the Ladies Division Club Champion for 2011. And this year, the Ladies Division Club Champion for 2012 is – Gemma Bokawachi. Congratulations Gemma!
In the seniors’ category, the contenders were Diemy Monedero, Joe Daigdigan, Ting Castillo, Faisal Samanodi, Sheginubo Horiochi, Manny Nitorreda, Joe Marfori, and Alfredo Abundo. And the Seniors Divison Club Champion of Rancho Palos Verdes for 2012 is –Faisal Samanodi. Congratulations!

In the super seniors’ category, the contenders were Jess Falcon, Tony Gumapac, Yunozuki Iino, Totoy Gilles, Bill Donohoe, Rolly Lazarte, Milton Liu and Fumasio Ohashi. And the Super Seniors Club Champion of Rancho Palos Verdes for 2012 is – Rolly Lazarte. Congratulations!

Golf Joke: So many congratulations. Let’s have a break. Joke time!
At the clubhouse bar, Juan was drinking too much alcohol and was getting very drunk. His golfing buddy, Pedro, was concerned for him and so he approached Juan to console him. “Pare,” Pedro said, “I heard you broke off your engagement with Cristina.” Pedro continued. And Juan replied, “Oo, Pare. She does not love me anymore.” Then Pedro said, “You should have told her about your rich uncle in Manila, Pare.” And Juan replied, “I did, Pare. And now she is marrying my uncle instead. Magiging tita ko na siya bukas.”
