SOME 50 bowlers are expected to participate in the 1st Tide Marathon Tenpin Bowling Open that will roll off on November 11 at the NCCC Mall B3 Lanes.
Tournament director Frely John Ochia, accompanied by NCCC entertainment supervisor Invictus "Noggie" Lorenzo in Tuesday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn, said the bowlers will play in two Sundays.
The first Sunday will be the 10-game scratch, while handicaps will be applied during the second Sunday, when the bowlers will play the 10-game eliminations to determine the top 25 bowlers that will clash in the eliminator format.
The top qualifier will be waiting in the finals while the other 24 bowlers will play in the eliminator-format.
The champion will take home P10,000 and a trophy, while the next three placers will receive P8,000, P6,00 and P4,000. The bowler with highest pinfall in the 10-game eliminations will also receive P3,000, while the next two placers will pocket P2,000 and P1,000.
Lorenzo, for his part, said they will apply a new format for the tournament since they are aiming to entice more tenpin bowlers.
"Challenging masyado itong tournament na ito because there will be a total of 20 games already in the elimination rounds alone. Meron pa tayong eliminator-format para sa top 25 so patayan talaga ito," Lorenzo added.
Registration is pegged P1,000 per player. Registration is ongoing at the NCCC Mall B3 Lanes.
