THE University of Mindanao stamped rivals in the just-concluded Davao City Private Schools Athletic Association (DC-Prisaa) Meet held in separate venues here.
Prisaa 11 executive director Joaquin "Boy" Sarabia, who was a guest at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at Dexter's Pizza Stadium in Matina yesterday, said most events of the city eliminations were conducted at UM Matina campus while other events were hosted by DMMA College of Southern Philippines (swimming), University of the Immaculate Conception (taekwondo) and Agro-Industrial Foundation College of the Philippines (football).
UM topped the men's and women's athletics over Brokenshire College.
The UM Wildcats also ruled men's basketball against Agro Sailors who placed second. DCSP (DCSP) and UIC finished second and third, respectively.
The UM women's basketball team of coach Crisanthemum "Ining" Sarabia toppled Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) for the title while Emar and Davao Doctors College wounded up in the next two spots.
UM governed men's and women's karatedo, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's table tennis, men's taekwondo, women's volleyball, men's football, women's chess, boxing, women's badminton, men's baseball, women's softball and women's swimming events.
The Mats College of Technology, however, bested UM for the men's badminton crown while Jose Maria College (JMC) subdued UM in men's chess.
DCSP, meanwhile, lorded over rivals in men's swimming and men's volleyball even as UIC reigned in women's taekwondo at the expense of UM and DCSP bets.
Sarabia said UM athletes will form the main bulk of the 330-member city delegation to the Southern Mindanao Region 11 Prisaa Meet slated January 11 to 13 in Tagum City.
"The DC-Prisaa team is already a selection of our best and finest athletes from among 15 member-schools. We expect to dominate most events in the regional meet but it would be a very tough battle to beat Tagum-Davao del Norte in beach volleyball as they have dominated the nationals for two straight years already," Sarabia said.
