Directo, Ringia advance in Andrada Cup

MARK Alfred Directo of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat and Janus Ringia of South Cotabato advanced in boys 12-under event of the Dunlop Presents 24th Andrada Cup National Age-Group Tennis Championship 2013.
The fourth-seeded Directo whipped Daniel Estanislao III to arrange a clash against Jan Vincent Bautista in the Round of 16. The latter demolished Von Carlo Saraza, 6-1, 6-2, earlier in the netfest presented by Dunlop Sport and sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission, St. Luke's Medical Center and First Solid Group.
Top-ranked Ringia, for his part, eliminated Harold Trillanes, 6-2, 6-0, to collide with Lorenzo Suarez, a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Marvin Espina.
In boys 14-under, Directo escaped past Marcus del Rosario, 7-5, 5-7, 10-5, while Ringia subdued Manuel Balce III, 6-2, 6-2, to secure quarter-finals berths. Directo's next assignment is Kim Alcala 6-3, 6-1 tormentor Emmanuel Fuellas while Ringia will test the mettle of Michael Eala, crushed John Steven Gonzales, 6-0, 6-0.
Island Garden City of Samal's Christian Fel Lopez, for his part, grabbed a quarter-finals slot along with Davao Oriental's Jeleardo Amazona in boys 16-under.
Lopez turned back Jacob Martin, 6-1, 6-0, while Amazona crushed Fuellas, 6-1, 6-1.
Cagayan de Oro City's Roxanne Resma, meanwhile, hacked out a 6-4, 6-0 win over Monica Therese Cruz in girls 16-under. Resma, who is seeded first, will play the winner between Angelica Mosqueda and Colleen Sioson in the quarters. (MLSA)
