SOUTH Cotabato's Janus Ringia and Cagayan de Oro City's Roxanne Resma, both top-seeds in their respective events, lived up to their billing by bagging titles at the close of the Dunlop Sport Presents 24th Andrada Cup National Age-Group Tennis Championship 2013 at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Manila over the weekend.

Ringia survived a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win over second-seed Michael Eala to annex the boys 12-under crown. Ringia ousted Marcus del Rosario, 6-0, 6-0, to arrange a titular showdown with Eala who hacked out a thrashing 6-0, 6-0 victory over Mark Alfred Directo of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat in the semi-finals.

Resma, for her part, swept two titles. She beat fifth-seed Khim Iglupas, 6-4, 6-2, in girls 16-under before whipping Katrina Orteza, 6-1, 6-1, in girls 18-under event of the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta)-sanctioned Group 1 event.

Davao Oriental's Jeleardo Amazona bowed to Eric Olivarez Jr., 0-6, 0-3 retire, in their boys 16-unde semis match. The latter, however, fell at the hands of Stefan Suarez, 0-6, 6-7 (5) in the championship.

The rest of the singles champions were Diego Dayrit (10-under unisex), Mikaela Vicencio (girls 12-under), Bryan Otico (boys 14-under), Monica Therese Cruz (girls 14-under) and Andrew Joshua Cano (boys 18-under).

Organizers thanked major sponsor Asiatraders Corporation and other sponsors Philippine Sports Commission, First Solid Group, St. Luke's Medical Center and Sagip Bayan Foundation, Inc. for making the tournament possible. (MLSA)
