SOME 50 teams are expected to join in the annual Vicenta Tionko Memorial Football Cup at the Tionko field on January 26.

Davao Football Association (DFA) general secretary Erwin Protacio bared this in Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at Calle Cinco Restobar along J.P. Laurel Avenue.

He said categories entered are boys 16-under, boys and girls 14-under, boys 12-under and boys 10-under.

"It will be a 7-A-Side tournament that expects 50 teams from Davao City. We have also invited other out-of-town teams," Protacio said.

DFA had invited members of the Tionko family to grace the opening and awarding ceremonies of the one-day bootfest organized in memory of Vicenta Tionko.

DFA also lined up the Sakya Fil-Chi Cup on February 16 in celebration of the Chinese New Year and the Mindanao Regional Festival of Football on March 1 to 3 in separate venues here.

Protacio also said Davao City's U-23 team will see action in the Suzuki Cup Mindanao Finals set sometime in March or April against three other qualifiers - Iligan, Dipolog and M'lang. (MLSA)
