THE Mindanao Senior Golfers Federation had a recent tournament over the weekend. And because the golfers are categorized according to age, everyone who reads my article will know more or less how old they are. I hope they do not consider their age a secret. Hehe. But, as they say, the older you get, the less you care about what others think of you. Therefore, the older you get, the more you enjoy life, right?
Here are the winners of the Mindanao Senior Golfers Federation Golf Tournament held last January 13, 2013 at Davao City Golf Club. Congratulations!
Gross Champion (55-60 years old) - Fred Albarillo, runner-up (55-60 years old) - Pet Deloria; net champion (55-60 years old) - Cho Won Bong, runner-up (55-60 years old) - Boy Elma; gross champion (61-65 years old) - Jimmie Testado, runner-up (61-65 years old) - Nilo Dalut; net champion (61-65 years old) - Frank Buno, runner-up (61-65 years old) - Armando Abarquez; gross champion (66-70 years old) - Nick Olarte, runner-up (66-70 years old) - Maning Zambrano; net champion (66-70 years old) - Sammy Roca, runner-up (66-70 years old) - Noriyuki Ishikawa; gross champion (71 years and above) - Oscar Lopez, runner-up (71 years and above) - Joe Custodio; net champion (71 years and above) - Vic Garcia, runner-up (71 years and above) - Antonio Tan.
Since we are talking about senior citizens, there is something I would like to share with you. It is about health and nutrition. This is what a certain Chinese doctor said: (I will just copy and paste from the internet.)
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans...
5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
Hehe. Joke!
The Davao Integrated Bar of the Philippines hosted a golf tournament for the 14th National Lawyers Convention at Apo Golf Club. According to my friend Atty. Larry Pasquil, the tournament chairman, so many lawyers from all over the country participated in the event. Their awarding ceremonies was held at the Davao Casino-Mercure Hotel last January 15, 2013.
About the winners of the said tournament, I will mention and congratulate them next week. Apparently, there was a certain lawyer who complained about the results. And so, they are being very careful and are reviewing the results at this moment. Naku, mga lawyers pa naman ang participants. Baka mag file ng case if the wrong players are declared winners.
Back to the seniors. More about the funny Chinese doctor talking about health. This is from the internet.
Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it. Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Brandy distilled wine, that means they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.
See, fellow golfers, we wouldn't want to look like whales. Golf is the right sport for us. Hindi tayo mukhang whale, mukhang crocodile lang ang iba sa atin. Hehe.
Happy Golfing!!!
