THE Southern Mindanao Region 11 Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) Meet athletics and swimming competition will yet unfurl on Sunday in two separate venues here.
Prisaa 11 executive director Joaquin "Boy" Sarabia said Thursday that athletics will be held either at the University of Mindanao (UM) Matina campus or Davao City National High School, while swimming will be hosted by the DMMA College of Southern Philippines (DCSP).
"All other events except for athletics and swimming were already conducted in Tagum City over the weekend. These two events were not played there during the regional meet since the new sports complex was not yet turned over by the contractor to the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte. We couldn't find other venues in Tagum that can host athletics and swimming," Sarabia said during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at Calle Cinco Restobar along J.P. Laurel Avenue.
Davao del Sur and Davao del Norte tracksters and swimmers will try to put up a stiff contest against defending champion Davao City bets.
Sarabia also said only two categories in boxing will be contested by Davao City and Davao del Norte on Saturday since the six other weight divisions were already filled up.
He added Davao City dominated most of the 18 events in the three-day regional eliminations but the beach volleyball titles were kept by UM Tagum College of Davao del Norte.
Sarabia said, "We really can't beat Tagum in beach volleyball being national Prisaa champions the past two or three years. It's their expertise as they have their own Volleydrome that had hosted a handful of international and national events in the past."
Top regional performers barely have a month to prepare for the national championship set on February 11 to 16 in Lingayen and Dagupan, Pangasinan.
