Philhealth run hits road on Feb. 17

IT'S all systems go for the nationwide simultaneous Ta-Run-A Philhealth Run 2013, dubbed Run for Mother and Child Protection, on February 17.
The Davao City edition will kick off in an out-and-back course from SM City Davao Parking Lot C. It will feature the three-kilometer (3K), 5K, 10K and 18K categories with an expected total turnout of 6,000 participants.
Philhealth regional vice-president Dennis Adre, in a letter to Sun.Star Davao, said proceeds of the run will be donated to the Philippine Children's Medcial Center (PCMC) as national beneficiary and to the Southern Philippines Medical Center and Blood Diseases Unit (Kids of Hope) as Region 11 beneficiary.
He said the race, organized to celebrate Philhealth's 18th anniversary and the country's success in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), targets to bring together some 108,000 runners in 18 venues nationwide.
This year's event is a follow-up on the Mindanao Run for Hope that also benefited 60 patients at the Kids of Hope last year.
Registration fees are P250 (3K adul, kiddie), P 300 (5K), P 500 (10K) and P 600 (18K).
Cash prizes will be up for grabs for the first three male and female finishers of each category in the footrace held in cooperation with Vantage Sports Promotions.
