AdDU, ACD set up mini finals showdown

THE Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) and Assumption College of Davao (ACD) arranged a mini division titular showdown by ousting their respective semi-finals rivals in the resumption of the 1st Emilio D. Escandor Memorial Cup basketball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Gym on Saturday.
AdDU waylaid University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), 100-24, as Blue Knights Eric Tuadles and Lawrence Angeles combined for 30. Adrianne Chatto led scoring for UIC with six points.
ACD, for its part, relied on Joseph Portillo and Vince Malero to hack out a 56-45 win over the Holy Child School of Davao. Portillo made 12 points while Malero added 11 in the cagefest sanctioned by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP). Anscar Mamac sank eight for Holy Child.
In the juniors division, AdDU overcame ACD, 56-52, to book a seat in the junior division finals. AdDU will clash against the winner between HCSD and Agro-Industrial Foundation College of the Philippines that were still playing as of Saturday presstime.
The tournament is presented by The Royal Mandaya Hotel owner and president Glenn Escandor in memory of his late father, businessman-sportsman Emilio D. Escandor. (MLSA)
