Phoenix Marathon set March 10-A A +A

THE Araw ng Dabaw Phoenix Marathon is all set to hit the road from SM Lanang to SM Ecoland on March 10.
Race director Kenneth Sai the event, which features three-kilometer (3K), 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K categories, expects some 3,000 runners with participants also coming from Manila, Cebu and other parts of Mindanao.
"Cebu's top runners Mary Grace delos Santos and Joy Tabal have signified their participation. Their presence and those from other cities and provinces will raise the level of competition although Davao City's elite runners are also early favorites," Sai said during a recent media launch held at Coffeebean, SM Lanang Premier.
SM Group's marketing manager Russel Alaba, for his part, said the SM to SM run won't be a first time to be staged as a similar run will also be held in Cebu this month.
Alaba also said, "We are happy that Phoenix Petroleum had been our partner the past four years and we are proud to be a part of this big event."
Registration is going on at SM Lanang Premier, SM City Davao, Phoenix Lanang and Phoenix Acacia. Fees are P199 (3K, 5K) inclusive of singlet and certificate, P399 (10K) inclusive of singlet and certificate, P599 (21K) inclusive of singlet, medal, certificate and P799 (42K) inclusive of singlet, medal, finisher's shirt and certificate.
The male and female 42K champions will each pocket P40,000 cash while the next nine finishers will also go home with cash prizes. (MLSA)
