HIGHLY-touted Ateneo de Davao University plays Emar Human and Environmental College as the Passerelle division semi-finals of the 1st Emilio D. Escandor Memorial Cup basketball tournament will get underway on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Gym.
Game time is at 10:30 a.m.
Ateneo took the top spot of the semis after sweeping all its games in the eliminations of the cagefest presented by The Royal Mandaya Hotel owner and president Glenn Escandor in memory of his businessman-sportsman father, the late Emilio D. Escandor. Ateneo, thus, arranged a showdown with fourth-seeded Emar.
The other semis match will pit No. 2 Holy Child College of Davao against No. 3 Ford Academy of the Arts.
Semis winners will face against each other in the finals while the losers will play for third.
In the mini division, Ateneo and Assumption College of Davao (ACD) will clash for the title having beaten their respective semis rivals over the weekend. Ateneo toyed with the hapless University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), 100-24, while ACD subdued Holy Child, 56-45.
Ateneo and Holy Child, meanwhile, will collide against each other for the juniors championship trophy in the finals slated on Feb. 16.
The league is sanctioned by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas under Mindanao Cluster B director Regino "Boy" Cua. (MLSA)
