1K@Amway fun run blasts off

ON-SITE registrants only have until 5 a.m. to sign up before the 1K@Amway fun run blasts off today in an out-and-back course from Tulip Drive, Quimp Boulevard in Matina.
Race director Kenneth Sai of Vantage Sports Promotions said 900 runners have registered as of Friday and may still increase as registration closes today.
The one-kilometer (1K) route starts from the Amway Center passing through Tulip Drive with turning point at Delongtes restaurant. From Amway Center, 5K runners will pass through Ecowest Drive going to Quimpo Boulevard and back to origin.
The 1K@Amway campaign promotes to start a healthy habit by running just 1K.
Part of the proceeds will benefit Amway's One By One Campaign for children in partnership with Department of Education's adopt-a-school program.
Amway distributors running the 1K and 5K IBO (independent business owner) categories, may register by buying Nutrilite daily foil pack inclusive of a race kit. Non-Amway distributors interested to join the 1K and 5K Non-IBO events shall pay P595 to get a race kit.
Medals and Amway items await winners. All 5K finishers are set to receive finisher's kit.
Raffle prizes include Ipod Touch and gift certificates.
The Davao leg is the fourth stop in the series of Amway races. Similar races were also held in Manila on Jan. 12 and in Cagayan de Oro on Jan. 26. The last stop will be on Feb. 16 in Baguio City.
