Veterans rule Snake Run

VETERANS Arnie Macañeras and Mona Liza Ambasa of Davao City lived up to their billing by sweeping the men's and women's 12-kilometer (12K) titles, respectively, in the Year of the Snake Run 2013 at the Davao Central High School.
Macañeras checked in at 42 minutes and 22 seconds, beating Ronald Dagaang and Nestor Madula who grabbed the second and third place, respectively. Dagaang finished in 42:36 while Madula registered 45:18.
Ambasa, Brokenshire College athletics varsity assistant coach, timed 50:05 over runner-up Ruffa Sorongon's 50:40 and third-placer Daime Jaro's 55:35.
The first three 12K finishers received cash prizes of P3,000, P2,000 and P1,500.
The men's 8K title went to Jesmar Lopez who clocked 26:58 while Rolly Paderna (27:10) settled for the second spot with a time of 27:10 followed by Lloyd Malinao (30:10) in third.
Jaro (32:56), meanwhile, sped past Vivian Avergonzado (34:54) and Christy Capaniarihan (40:35) for the women's 8K title of the race presented by the Davao Central High School Batch `90 and Vantage Sports Promotions.
In 4K 13 years old and below, Jet Lee Lirasan (18:18) ruled the boys' side over Andrei Castillo (20:03) and Mark Macedo (20:04) while Oona Barnes (26:13) lorded over sisters Danna (42:41) and Margaret Pillerin (43:41) who took the next two spots.
The 8K top three runners went home with P2,000, P1,500 and P1,000 while the first three 4K placers pocketed P1,000, P700 and P500.
