Solana, Veloso, Inting win GSIS night tennis opener

JOELITO Solana, Rev. Dexter Veloso and Ramon Inting drew first blood at the start of the 1st GSIS Heights Tennis Club Night Singles Tournament at the GSIS Heights Tennis Clubc Inc. over the weekend.
Solana crushed lawyer Chuck Delgra, 8-2, while Bebot Mejia and Rodyl Siapno defeated Rey Calugcug and Scott Tubbs, respectively, via default in class A.
Veloso, for his part, walloped Alvin Supan, 8-3, while Flor Salguste turned back Engr. Allan dela Pena, 8-2, in class B. British national Briann Wrenn and Dr. Allan Barcinas also axed debut wins. Wrenn edged Willord Ortanes, 8-6, while Barcinas hacked out an 8-2 victory over Dr. Ang, 8-2.
In class C, Inting subdued Butch Millora, 8-6, to join first round winners Vladimir Samarista and Ric Liangco. Samarista outclassed Nilo Deiparine, 8-2, while Liangco breezed past Jaranilla via default.
Games will resume on Friday pitting Chris Cabido against Arak Bernales and Mario Gamil against Baging Monday at 6 p.m. and Maning Nartatez against Richard Pajaron and Kibo Ballota against Bing Luspo at 6:30 p.m. in class C.
Other matches: Juanito Cansino, Jr. vs Bobot Mejia (class A) at 6:30 p.m.; Toto Bisnon vs Caloy Pates, Tubbs vs Jing Aniga at 7 p.m. and Engr. Ricky Estardo vs Paok Allera (class B) at 7:30 p.m.
Nartatez, president of GSIS Heights Tennis Club, welcomed all club members and urged them to play in the night tournament while Rev. Veloso led the opening prayer during the brief opening rites. (MLSA)
