Homer tops ‘Araw’ bowlfest

TEAM Homer emerged champion in the just-concluded Mayor Inday Sara and Vice-Mayor Rody Duterte 76th Araw ng Dabaw Bowling Tournament at Dover Mega Lanes.
Homer, composed of Arnel Crudo, Muktan Amsirabi, Roy Amsirabi, Louie Tandingan, Emy Dejiga and Alex Alalunay, topped the eight-game series in the elimination round and retained its composure in the step-the-ladder finals.
The Diagold Rookies placed second, while Ciotaym was third and Sazzy Boys came fourth in the 20-team tournament organized by the Davao City Bowlers Association (Daciba) under its president Orlando Tamayo and sponsored by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office.
Youth players Fritz Barros and Helen Pogoy bannered Diagold Rookies that also paraded the services of John Alvert Baluyot, Alex Racho, Joel Famaran and Jhul Caneda while Dennis Descallar, Erick Booc, Mathess Domino, Jun Auza and Cencio Awid played for Ciotaym.
Sazzy Boys, meanwhile, was represented by Aksan Amsirabi, Catalino Morales, Che-Che Calida, Ivan Awid, and John and Sky Sajili.
Sazzy Boys romped away with the highest team single title with a total of 653 pinfalls, while Aksan Amsirabi (175) took the highest single crown. Rudy Castillo (94) and Virgo Calida (123.6) clinched the highest pinning and highest average titles, respectively.
In the master's game, Rolando Magday bested Virgo Calida, Descallar and Awid for the men's crown while Pogoy prevailed over Domino and Calida in the ladies division.
Jerson Tamayo and Catalino Morales officiated the bowlfest organized as part of the Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival. (MLSA)
