THE green light is on for the Mayor Rody and Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte Lumba Bisiklita Lumba sa Kadayawan that will hit the road on Sunday at Shrine Hills Matina.
PhilCycling deputy secretary general for Mindanao Salvador Paholio, Jr., in a statement furnished to Sun.Star Davao, said the event will feature five individual categories including open elite, executive (25 to 39 years old), junior (22-under), cadet 15-under and the BMX 20-under.
The bikefest also features a team competition.
The BMX 20-under event will be launched by PhilCycling Mindanao as part of its grassroots development program.
Paholio said interested riders may sign up on-site from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. on Sunday since the opening program will follow shortly at 8 a.m.
Matina Brgy. Kagawad Joseph Encabo will welcome participants.
Cash prizes await winners with individual champions going home with P2,000 each while the next two finishers will receive P1,500 and P1,000.
In the team event, the first three teams will pocket P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000.
While the top five riders in each category will earn 7,5,3,2,1 to be credited by team they are represented.
It is also said that that due to the constraint in budget allocation, the monetary requirements usually run by all National Association in the City associated by the City government was trimmed down by 25 percent.
But newly assigned Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office officer-in-charge William "Butch" Ramirez said that they are expecting betterment in next year annual Kadayawan sa Dabaw celebration.
