SOME 80 bowlers are expected to show their wares when the 2nd Safeguard Tenpin Davao Open rolls off on Monday at the NCCC Mall B3 Bowling Center.
Fredy John Ocha, marketing assistants of B3 Lanes, speaking in the Davao Sports Association Forum at Calle Cinco Restobar, said that players from Davao Tenpin Bowling Association and Durian Tenpin Bowling Association confirmed to join the event along with the top four teams of last June's 3rd Suppliers Cup: JTA Marketing, Dairenz Snack Marketing, Universal Robina Corporation, and Anotec Philippines Inc,.
Ocha, however, clarified that other bowling enthusiasts are welcome to join the four-game series competition to be played on four Mondays until Sept. 16.
"All bowlers will play team and doubles events with no handicap in the first game. From that, individual scores will determine the handicap that will be utilized only to determine the winner of each event," he said.
After the team, doubles, and singles events, the top 22 will be named and will advance for the masters event on Sept. 16. After eight games with handicap, the top eight will advance to the next round.
The number 1 will earn ticket to the semi-finals while the other seven squads will play the step-the-ladder (shoot-out-format) round.
Cash prizes, trophies, and medals awaits masters winners.
The champion will pocket P15,000 while runner-ups will take P8,000, P5,000 and P3,000 respectively.
Special awards will also be given to winners of team, doubles and singles events. The top player will get P3,500 and other prizes.
