UM judokas rule Kadayawan event-A A +A

THE University of Mindanao (UM) judo team collected a total of seven gold medals, two silvers and one bronze to rule the just-concluded Mayor Rody and Vice Mayor Pulong Duterte Kadayawan Judo-Newasa Youth Tournament at the Abreeza Mall.
The Osmeña Judo Team placed second by hauling two golds, two silvers and one bronze while 1-2-1 Wireless Judo Team finished third. The 1-1-1 Davao Wisdom Academy placed fourth.
The Davao Central High School, Mats College of Criminology and United Kingdom Judo Team accounted for one gold each to occupy the next three spots followed by the 0-1-3 Holiday Judo Club and 0-1-0 Judo Team of Dacudao at the cellar.
Christian Rondina (men's advance 60 kgs.), John Vincent Fune (90 kgs.), Shiela Tanlocsin (women's judo advance 57 kgs), Geromae Roldan (women's judo advance 52 kgs.) and Rovielyn Pampilo (women's judo advance 63 kgs.) led UM's golden harvest.
Visiting Fil-Brit James Ryan, member of the United Kingdom Judo Club, defedended his cadet boys 66 kgs. gold over Wireless Judo Team's Karl Catungal who ended up second. The latter's teammate Francis Villa salvaged the bronze.
In Newasa (grappling), Mats clinched three golds, four silves and three bronzes over 2-0-0 Deftac Davao, 1-1-0 UM and 1-0-1 HJC.
Mats bets Jozel Burgos, Mieky Salem and Maria Tolete copped golds for the team in the one-day tournament sponsored by the City Government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office.
It was organized by the Philippine Judo Federation headed by regional president Paolo Tancontian.
