Moulic wins 2nd gold in Batang Pinoy chess-A A +A

DAVAO City's prized woodpusher Ella Grace Moulic annexed the girls rapid gold medal on Wednesday after winning the girls blitz gold earlier in the ongoing Batang Pinoy Mindanao Qualifying Leg chess competition at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan, Capitol Grounds in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
The Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) standout Moulic scored perfect six points, beating Irish Yngayo also from Davao City who earned five points in the six-round Swiss System format chessfest. The latter got the silver instead while Davao del Norte's Zsuzsa Grace Tabudlong, led two other 4.5 scorers Allanney Jia Doroy of Agusan del Norte and Frince Ezra Vanjo Ocliasa of Mati City via superior tiebreak, clinched the bronze.
Top-seeded Moulic's victims were Jenaica Bettylynn Julom and Elizabeth Guanga of Apopong, General Santos City, Ocliasa, Tabudlong, Yngayo and Joerlz Gimony.
In the boys side, General Santos City chesser Alberto Diolola, Jr. also swept all his six games to annex the gold while Davao City's Tahseen Saludsong and Allen Daven de Asis got the silver and bronze, respectively, with identical six points.
Moulic and the rest of Davao City players were still playing in the standard event of the regional eliminations where the top three placers will book seats to the national finals. (MLSA)
