DAVAO City's multiple gold medalists Samantha Janne Cambronero and Ella Grace Moulic vowed to give their best performance in the upcoming Batang Pinoy national championship slated Nov. 19 to 23 in Zamboanga City.
Cambronero, who harvested all six gold medals at stake in the girls 13-15 category of the recently-concluded Mindanao Qualifying Leg swimming competition held at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City, said she has resumed rigid training for next month's competition.
"I'm going all out in the national finals since this is going to be my last Batang Pinoy stint," the 15-year-old tanker said during the Davao Sportswriters Association Forum at Dexter's Pizza Stadium in Matina Thursday.
Cambronero, a student at Precious International School of Davao, hopes to win a medal this time having returned empty-handed in the 2012 edition of the Games for 15 years old and below athletes.
Holy Cross of Davao College pride Moulic, 15, said she will try to defend her rapid gold and expects to join the title hunt in blitz and standard events.
The regional eliminations triple gold medalist Moulic, in an interview after her guesting, said in the vernacular, "I'm happy that I'll be joining other tournaments before the Batang Pinoy national finals. In the Kadayawan tournament this weekend, I'm joining the boys 20-under category since male players are very good and I can learn so much from them."
She is also seeing action in the Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship set in Manila next weekend.
Moulic swept all three golds in girls chess of the Mindanao qualifying.
