SPC lady spikers bag Dacs title-A A +A

THE San Pedro College (SPC) Blue Stallions stunned defending champion Holy Cross of Davao College, 25-20, 25-15, 19-25, 28-26 to clinch the women's title of the Davao Association of Colleges and Schools (Dacs) Collegiate Sportsfest 2012 volleyball competition held recently at Assumption College of Davao (ACD) gymnasium.
SPC, thus, advanced to the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) Regional Meet slated in November.
In the battle for third, Ateneo de Davao University Blue Knights recovered from a first set loss by beating the Philippine Women's College of Davao Patriots , 25-27, 25-20, 25-11, 26-24.
SPC's Janica Van Hamoy was named most valuable player (MVP) and best setter while Ma Nia Jonile Ramos (best libero), Jessibeth Perez (best attacker), and Ma. Aurora Enriquez (best scorer) also received individual awards.
HCDC's Kween Marie Claire Dawang was hailed best server and Mary Grace Berte was best blocker.
ACD dethroned the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) for the grade school boys title while Ateneo spanked St. Peter College of Toril (SPCT) Rocks to place third.
The grade school girls crown went to the Ateneo volleybelles who defeated ACD in their titular clash.
HCDC, for its part, grabbed the third spot after beating St. Paul College of Pasig-Davao Paulinians.
Ateneo, however, seized the High School boys and girls titles. The Ateneo boys team bested Holy Cross College of Sasa that settled for the runner-up honors. UIC and SPCT occupied the next two places.
The Ateneo High School girls prevailed over UIC in the finals. The latter finished second while ACD and Stella Maris Academy of Davao came third and fourth, respectively.
