ORGANIZERS bared late Thursday that Mindanao leg of the 11th Shakey's Girls Volleyball League, earlier set on Sept. 18 to 21 in Davao City, has been moved to an undetermined date next month.
Mindanao leg coordinator Abet Bernan, in a call to Sun.Star Davao, said Manila-based Metro Sports, national organizer of the Shakey's V-League, have decided to postpone the qualifying meet as equipment won't be ready on time for the original schedule.
"We will soon announce the final sked," Bernan said.
Bernan said pushing through with the Mindanao leg this year is part of their "passion and advocacy to inspire and teach the younger generations to get into active sports".
Defending champion Davao City National High School will try to retain its crown against rivals Ateneo de Davao University, Maa National High School, Corpus Christi High School of Cagayan de Oro City, Tagum City National High School, Cor Jesu College High School of Digos City, Iligan City National High Schoool, Notre Dame of Kidapawan College High School, St. Mary's School of Cagayan de Oro City, and Koronadal National Comprehensive High School.
The Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF)-sanctioned leg will be officiated by the Balibolista de Dabaw.
An all-expense paid trip to the Tournament of Champions in Manila is at stake for the Mindanao champion. (MLSA)
