TWO Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) teams figured in contrasting fates in the resumption of the 4th Royal Mandaya Hotel Inter-School Basketball Tournament at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center over the weekend.
The Ateneo cadets toyed with the hapless Philippine Women's College (PWC), 123-11, while the Ateneo mini dribblers bowed to PWC, 37-57 in the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP)-sanctioned cagefest sponsored by The Royal Mandaya Hotel owner and president Glenn Escandor.
Lawrence Marione "Ayon" Angeles drilled in 18 points and Lex Blanco added 17. Dariel Manliguez and Francis Escandor chipped in 14 and 13 markers, respectively, for Ateneo that improved to a clean 3-0 slate.
Jose Cabilan led scoring for PWC with four points as the team slumped at the bottom of the team standings with a 0-3, win-loss card.
The University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), meanwhile, routed Assumption College of Davao (ACD), 44-38, in another mini division match in the league held in cooperation with the Office of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Office of Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte.
UIC, thus, improved to 1-1 while ACD struggled at 0-2. (MLSA)
