Children footfest unfurls at Tionko-A A +A

IN LINE with the celebration of the International Peace Day, a one-day #iScore4Peace: A Grassroots Children Football Festival in Celebration of the International Day of Peace is set to unfurl on Saturday at the Tionko field.
The said tournament is said to be an instrument "in harnessing the power of football to foster the spirit of Peace Day on Sept. 21".
The sports-based peace-building event will bring in together grassroots youth communities. It will also unite young people for the promotion of peace, and "broaden the campaign reach on the Bangsangmoro Peace Process to the youth, their guardians and eventually their families".
Davao Football Association (DFA) general secretary Erwin Protacio, speaking before Monday's Kapehan sa Dabaw at The Annex of SM City Davao, said some 840 boys and girls from various grassroots-based football clubs in the city and nearby provinces will converge for the event.
Teams will be composed of players from Muslim communities, urban poor communities, orphanage, children survivors of abuse. They will play a series of "integrated and friendly football match".
The said event is organized by Oxfam Mindanao Programme in coordination with DFA.
